transubstantial: Just pretend it is Wednesday Night (Feel free to tag in)
Roaming the deserted halls of the school, Kyan kicks himself for not taking the week to become better reacquainted with the lay out. He is certain that he will get himself lost within an hour's time. Uncertain as to whether or not it is a blessing that he has yet to come across the other Professors, he continues dutifully.
In truth, Kyan is a bit eager to informally meet the potions professor. In school, he heard stories about the man and, of course, the Gryffindors that tormented him. The new professor was then, and still is, interested in hearing the other side of the story. He hates those who can only see things one-sidedly.
Of course, the errant thoughts are not making his job any easier, and he very nearly misses a pair of fifth years snogging in a dark alcove.
"That will be ten points from each of your houses and two weeks detention," he informs them before shooing them away.
"Do these children not realize the very real danger they are in?" he mutters without noticing that he has spoken outloud.

The man in question answers from the darkness behind the newest professor, his tone dry. "Do you have some remarkable experience in which children of that age were acting with appropriate caution, or are you simply a hopeless idealist?"
Fri, Oct. 15th, 2004 04:01 am (UTC)
"Neither, actually," he replies evenly. "Though in retrospect, I suppose it is pointless to hope that they be scared into obedience." Kyan turns to face the most notorius professor in Hogwarts' history, utterly unconcerned by the sudden appearance.

"Fear is a powerful motivator," he replies, glancing off in the direction the two 5th years retreated. "Regrettably, hormones prove stronger, nine times out of ten." He sniffs irritably.
"I thought you were covering the north corridors. Our rounds should not overlap so closely."

"Funny," he sighes, not at all amused. "I do not feel that old, yet I cannot recall ever being that young."
"Yes, about that," he does laugh now, though it is mostly humourless and self-depreciating. "It seems that I do not remember Hogwarts quite as well as I had thought."

"You didn't familiarize yourself before tonight?" Snape's tone is just slightly disgusted. "I see."
He lights his wand with a murmured, "Lumos," and raises it, highlighting his sallow, sharp features to ill effect.
"Is there a part of the castle you are
acquainted with, Professor Seabhac?"

"You know, between the naps and the bubble baths, I just haven't had time to go exploring the castle," Kyan replies dryly.
"Unfortunately, I am more familiar with specific route at the moment," he admits easily. He is not disappointed to find that the man is every bit as acerbic as he has been portrayed. However, it is not untollerable, and could even prove amusing assuming he is not on the receiving end.

The sniff and the raised eyebrow that follow the bubble bath comment may be an indicator of surprised amusement. Or, they could just be in askance of an inappropriate comment.
"That makes tonight more ... difficult." Snape ponders this, fixing Seabhac with his black eyes, narrowing them slightly. "We shall just have to work around it. You are at least familiar with the area around the Gryffindor tower? As you classrooms are located there?"
Sun, Oct. 17th, 2004 04:29 am (UTC)
"I am aware of where my rooms are, and yes, I know the area. However, that is a much smaller area than any other professor has. What do you prose we do, to make this evening run more smoothly?" he asks evenly, bowing to the other man's greater experience.

Snape heaves a put-upon sigh, and eyes Seabhac dubiously. "It is
a smaller area, and I believe we shall just have to overcompensate for your lack of preparation. However, it strikes me that you might be put to better use actually learning the corridors. I shall simply have to extend my rounds, and you must hope you can keep up." The older man raises one eyebrow in askance.

"Do not worry," Kyan says with something that is not quite a smile on his face. "I do not think I will have difficulty keeping pace," he assures Snape.
